Change is the Only Constant

Three years in the making and WOW, what a great success. ReAwaken has brought women together, helped women regain their confidence and self-esteem and provided women with valuable resources and knowledge nuggets on many helpful topics.  Since day one, we have always said that " we believe in abundance and frown on competition ." We have also said that professional, educated women are not underprivileged but under-served.   Today, we are excited to share with you the new phase of our business growth that will allow us to operate with the financial strength of an existing nonprofit while staying true to our mission.  Fresh Start Women's Foundation  has expressed great interest in our programming and ReAwaken's president and founder, Jarrett Ransom has accepted a Development Director position at Fresh Start. This is a new and exciting collaboration; Jarrett is still working on finalizing how this will all unfold exactly.  And you will be the first to k...

The Refuge Cafe - another social enterprise done right!

Many tax-exempt organizations are beginning to capitalize on social enterprise businesses. Yesterday, I visited the Refuge Cafe in Phoenix. This quaint coffee and wine bar was a perfect spot to attend a workshop .       This great local coffee, beer and wine cafe is owned by  Catholic Charities of Phoenix and also makes a delicious hummus plate.  The earned income from this business will go back to the tax-exempt organization and fund their program and operating needs. Out of curiosity, what is your favorite social enterprise business?

My book, my dream

Today I attended a workshop and took next step towards self-publishing my book. We learned about how to design your book and this will take the final product into the printed version. This has been a dream of mine for a long time and today I learned so much more about what I need to do to continue this dream. Laura Orsini, Owner/Creative Director at Write / Market / Design , is a great source of information. She held this workshop for a bargain price ($75). This included a workbook, valued at $20, and a beverage at the Refuge Cafe (more on this great local place later). For this kind of information, you could spend between $500 and $2,000 to pay a book designer to do this for you. We learned the following in this 4-hour workshop. • Book sizes • Cover design • Parts of a book • Incorporating graphic elements • Fonts • Chapter headings • Headers/footers/page numbers • Lots more! NOTE: Laura also leads the Phoenix Publishing and Book Promotion Meetup .

Providing water in the AZ heat - Day 6

This weekend, I picked up some bottled water. I have noticed a lot of corners filled with men, women and even children asking for help. I thought that providing water in the AZ heat for Day 6 is a great way to add some compassion to our everyday living.  #30days30newways  making adventure out of your everyday life.  #reawaken  compassion

Dress for Success - Day 5

Tonight I am presenting to a nonprofit that helps women get suited and gain employment. I will be sharing my life story and mission of ReAwaken. As I was speaking tonight, at Dress for Success , one of the ladies mentions that her childhood was not a good one. She is still struggling with her roots and getting over her past as a kid, her hurt and pain.  I thanked her for sharing and being so open and vulnerable to me and the entire group of women. I also reached into my toolbox and shared with her that she can rewrite her story. She can retell her past. She can  create new memories and even delete the people that hurt her.  She can go back to 5 yrs old or 7 or 12 and relive those moments. Turn them into good ones. She was very thankful and found peace that she can go back to a child and heal the little girl. I told her about EFT and even shared my personal journey with her since I have been working with  Michelle Lee CH ,  Athena Rising Now ). I gave her my ...

Honoring Vets - Day 4

Today, Tanner and I shared our appreciation by placing flowers on the graves of U.S. Vets. We joined a friend as she went to visit her mom and dad's grave. We went to the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.  #30days30newways #reawaken

Pizza. Pizza. - Day 3

Truthfully, I had another idea for Day 3 but Danny crossed our path last night and again today. As a quick fix for dinner tonight, I decided to go to our neighborhood Little Caesar's where you can get a Hot-N-Ready pizza for only $5 (cheese or pepperoni). Danny is homeless and lives near our home. Last night, he was on a corner asking for help with his dog by his side. I do recall seeing him before but seeing him twice in two days was a sign that I could not let pass me by. We decided to get two $5 pizzas and stop and talk with Danny and his dog. He was open to being on our video blog and sharing a little about his story. In fact, he said, if it will help you, I am happy to. WOW! "IF IT WILL HELP ME?!" Those were his words. These were very powerful to me. Even while Danny lives on the streets, he wants to help others. I was more than touched by his words and his openness to sharing. #30days30newways #reawaken
